Sting has expressed that he is “steadily improving” after battling a temporary throat infection, which ultimately led him to postpone two major concerts and cancel his appearance at a prestigious awards ceremony on his doctor’s recommendation.

The iconic former frontman of The Police was slated to grace the stage at the Bass Magazine Awards in California this Thursday, where he was set to receive a lifetime achievement award in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to music.

In addition to the awards ceremony, he also had to push back performances in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California, along with an appearance at a concert celebrating his record label, all initially planned for this month.

In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, the 73-year-old artist conveyed, “I am steadily improving from a temporary throat infection which has prevented me from singing. However, I am eagerly looking forward to resuming my performances and the rescheduled shows in the near future.”
